ITINERARY

***INTI RAYMI IN CUSCO | 1 DAY

At 8:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and head to the Qorikancha Temple, arriving in advance for the beginning of the Inti Raymi celebration. The representation at Qorikancha begins at approximately 9:00 a.m. with the Salute to the Sun, marking the beginning of this important cultural celebration in Cusco.

After the presentation at Qorikancha, we will continue to Cusco’s Main Square, where the second part of the celebration takes place at approximately 10:00 a.m. This part of the ceremony includes the Coca Ritual and the Encounter of the Times, important representations of the Inti Raymi celebration.

We will then continue to Saqsaywaman by tourist transportation to attend the central ceremony of Inti Raymi. Upon arrival, you will have time to enjoy your box lunch before the ceremony begins and prepare to enter your designated seating area.

The central ceremony will begin at approximately 2:00 p.m. at the Saqsaywaman esplanade and is expected to last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. This is the main part of the celebration and brings together the Inca, the Coya, and representatives of the four Suyus of the Tawantinsuyo. During the ceremony, different rituals and representations are presented, accompanied by traditional music, dances, and costumes. The ceremonial acts include the chicha ritual, the lighting of the sacred fire, the symbolic representation of the sacrifice of a llama, ritual auguries, and the Sankhu ritual, as part of the recreation of ancient Inca traditions.

Our professional tour guide will provide explanations about the cultural and historical significance of the different representations, helping you better understand this important celebration and its connection to Inca traditions.

After the ceremony, we will begin our return to the center of Cusco. Due to the large number of visitors and special traffic conditions during Inti Raymi, the journey may take some time. We expect to arrive at Cusco’s Main Square at approximately 5:00 p.m., where our tour will end.

SMALL GROUPS

At Callanga Family Explorers, we believe that smaller groups create more meaningful travel experiences. OUR COMMUNITY & ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS

We believe tourism can create a positive impact beyond the journey itself. Through our community and environmental initiatives, we support children and schools in rural Andean communities, organize environmental clean-up campaigns, contribute to reforestation initiatives, and participate in projects that help protect the natural areas of the Cusco region.

Our commitment goes beyond words. Each year, we continue developing initiatives that support local communities and contribute to caring for the landscapes and environments that make Peru such a special destination. We also dedicate a portion of our tour revenue to community development initiatives, allowing our travelers to become part of this positive impact simply by choosing to travel with us.

For us, responsible tourism means giving back to the people and places that make every journey possible and helping build a more sustainable future for generations to come.

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?

The weather in Cusco on June 24, when the Inti Raymi takes place, is generally dry and cool. June is part of Cusco’s dry season, with mostly sunny days, cool temperatures in the morning, and colder conditions in the afternoon and evening.

Since the Inti Raymi involves spending several hours outdoors, we recommend bringing warm clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes. Weather conditions can vary during the day, so it is best to be prepared for both sunshine and cooler temperatures.
